After visiting Beng Mealea, we stopped at our last and final temple, Banteay Srei. This temple is much smaller than the others we visited during our time here, but boasts some very intricate carvings into its red stone façade. Like many other temples, it too was in the middle of being taken apart and reconstructed to improve its structural integrity. There are many stones that lie around the grounds, still marked with tags to indicate where they were to be placed during the reconstruction. Like many other pieces, they never made it back to the spot from which they came due to the war and overtaking by the Khmer Rouge. Welcome to Banteay Srei.
