People can tell you that a place is the most beautiful and picturesque place on earth, but until you experience it for yourself, you will never know.  In the north of Italy lie the Dolomites, a mountain range within the Italian Alps that we heard was one of the most amazing places on earth and that  you could hike for months and never see the same place twice.  Unlike the movie that you heard was so good you had to see it only to find out that it was a total disaster, the Dolomites are amazing!  They are one of the most beautiful places on earth.  We asked a climbing store owner in Pescara where he recommended to go while in the Dolomites before we set off and his answer was “anywhere, it’s all beautiful”, and he was right.   Continue Reading

Gondolas Sit Still In Front Of The Rialto Bridge In The Early Morning

After our boat tour through the canals with Walks of Italy, we had a limited amount of time to finish exploring the rest of the maze that makes up Venice.  This city is definitely a vacation destination and not really a stop for budget travelers.  The cost of food was about double that of anything else we had encountered throughout Italy and even getting there proved to be costly.  We took a very convenient ferry directly from the Venice airport to the city but it cost us 15 euros (approx. $20)/per person one- way.  Continue Reading

Exploring Venice

We were lucky to be invited to go along on another Walks of Italy tour, this time in Venice.  This unique city on the water is best explored by boat and that is just what we did.  The tour met in St Marco square and we easily found our guide and the 4 others in our group.  We were given headsets, which was nice even with a small group because it meant we could sit wherever we wanted and still be able to hear our guide during the boat ride.  After seeing our trip route on the map from our guide Christine, we boarded a nice Continue Reading
