Our first castle of Scotland was Edinburgh Castle where we made the decision to skip the line and purchase the Historic Scotland Pass. We knew we wanted to explore some castles during our three weeks in Scotland and the pass seemed like a good deal. Below are some of the places we visited and a breakdown of the cost. After spending 3 nights in Edinburgh we spent about two weeks traveling around Scotland. We really wanted to get out in the country and see the beauty that we had heard so much about. This is our Scotland route we took:
Edinburgh to Cairngorms National Park: After picking up our car at the Edinburgh airport we set off towards Sterling Castle and spent some time exploring the castle grounds before continuing on to our Air BnB in Ballater, a small village in the National park. Where to Stay We stayed in the old town, just off the Royal Mile. This was the perfect location for exploring the sites. We walked everywhere and were able to take the airport bus right to our street, nice after a day of traveling. We highly recommend Air B&B. Our 1 bedroom apartment with a full kitchen was perfect and was much cheaper than any hotel in the area.
What to Do There is so much to see in Edinburgh! We spent our days walking around and could have easily spent weeks exploring this cool city. These are a few of our highlights Continue Reading

An amazing location and a beautifully renovated place, we are only the third guests. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine, box of chocolates and Continue Reading
