I had heard many great things about the diving in Thailand, but after seeing the visibility and professionalism, or lack there of from the crew during our snorkeling trip, I was concerned. Fortunately, the crew from Scubafish were all foreigners working for an English owner and were very professional, knew what they were doing and provided good gear. As for the visibility, which was anywhere from eighty to one hundred feet, it was some of the clearest water that I had ever laid eyes on. We dove a spot called Koh Haa, about an hour and a half by boat off of the west coast of Koh Lanta. This is a popular spot to see whalesharks, but unfortunately we missed out on this day. We did manage to spot a leopard shark , turtle, and a lot of moray eels along with all of the other sea life. There were giant pinnacles that went from the sea floor and continued sixty to eighty feet above the water that housed schools of fish and had some cool swim through caves. The dive sites consisted of The Lagoon, The Cathedral, and The Chimney, which was quite possibly the best dive I have ever done! The amount of beautiful coral and the abundance of marine life was incredible. Along with the three dives, the boat served a breakfast consisting of pastries, coffee, tea, hard boiled eggs and toast. For lunch they served up two different Thai rice dishes, fruit and cold drinks were enjoyed throughout the day. If you are headed to Koh Lanta for a dive trip, dive course or even snorkeling, Scubafish should be at the top of your list. The cost of the trip at the time of this post was $175 usd which included transport to and from the hotel, three dives, snacks, coffee/tea, and lunch. You can also choose to dive twice, which would lower the price by another thirty dollars.
