This month’s expenses were a little different since we had Simone’s dad, Bob, with us for almost 2 weeks over Christmas and half of the accommodation costs during that time were covered by him. We also did a lot of travel this month by plane. The figures for transportation include flights from Melbourne to Tasmania, Tasmania to Sydney and Sydney to Perth. We also only had the campervan for the first 11 days of the month, before renting a car for 7 days in Tasmania and 12 days in Sydney. We also traveled by bus while in Melbourne.
As you can see below we stayed in a wide range of accommodations this month, everything from campgrounds to beach houses. We also had the pleasure of staying with Bob’s friends for 2 nights while he was in Australia.
Most of the other areas were similar to what we have been spending. Our activities were a little less this month, although we did manage to do some pretty neat things. This category includes 2 museums that were not free, an all day visit to Port Arthur while in Tasmania and entry for 3 into Scenic World, the Jenolan Caves and the movies while Bob was with us. Also while in Tasmania we purchased a national parks pass to gain unlimited entry into all the national parks while we were there.
Our grand total per day for December in Australia was $207.36USD. Here’s to hoping the next few months will be considerably less!
