Simone: I have only been in New York City once, 20 years ago! I remember the city being loud, dirty and crowded. I was excited to spend some time in the city as an adult and so far I have been surprised to find the city cleaner and quieter than I remember. This could be due to a few things. We are staying in the Upper West Side, just down 85th from Central Park, which looks like the perfect location. We have recently spent time in big cities around the world and many were far more crowded, loud and dirtier than NYC, Ho Chi Min, Vietnam comes to mind. Having spent time in these other cities, it is quite possible that NYC seems much better in comparison. I am excited to see the sites and see just how much we can cram into our 48 Hours in NYC using the City Pass.
Jason: I grew up almost four hours north of New York City and have been to the city quite a few times, mostly for baseball games. The last time I was here was after 9/11 when they were still cleaning up the rubble from the trade center. I remember New York being loud, dirty, and full of aggressive people. This time the city feels much different than I remember. It seems calmer and quieter, the people seem nicer and it is much cleaner. We are in a good location but I’ve felt this way ever since we left the airport and road the subway to our apartment. It’s a nice surprise and I hope that our visit continues to be this good. I’m excited to use our City Pass to visit some of the attractions around New York that I have never been to like the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
