After leaving the temple Baphuon, we finished our day of temple touring at Preah Khan, another 12th century temple that like Ta Prhom has trees swallowing the stones that are the backbone of yet another architectural marvel in Angkor. Many of the stones have tumbled to the ground and fill in doorways and courtyards, but you can get a good feel for what it must have looked like hundreds of years ago. While leaving the grounds, we were once again approached by a young girl (probably around seven years old) trying to sell us refrigerator magnets. After several minutes of following Simone around, she realized she wasn’t going to get the sale she’d hoped for, so she did what any seven-year old salesperson would do. She called Simone crazy, and walked away. Enjoy the tour.
We hoped you enjoyed the tour from your comfortable chair in your air-conditioned home. When we toured these temples, it was around 95 degrees with 75-80 percent humidity. Coming up, we take a break from temples and enjoy some Khmer food during our third cooking class in a month.
