We loved Ubud so much we ended up heading back to the area for our last 10 nights! While in Ubud we were able to catch a couple of shows. The traditional Balinese performances happen every night at several different venues throughout Ubud and are vividly animated by the characters in costume dancing to music and chants. The two performances we caught were the Legong/Barong combination dance at the Ubud Palace and the Kecak Fire Dance at the Pedang Tegal Temple. Both shows had an enormous amount of intensity coming from the dancers and performers, some which start learning as young as three years old. If you find yourself in Indonesia, be sure to check out some performances, they only cost around 70,000 to 80,000 rupiah ($6-$7 USD). Here are some of the characters and performers from the shows we saw.
